Gifted Services

In compliance with state law, the Danville Area School District provides services designed to meet the unique needs of gifted students. The Danville Area School District identifies “gifted” students on a case-by-case basis based on state law and district policy. Under Pennsylvania regulations, the term mentally gifted is defined as “including a person who has an IQ of 130 or higher and when multiple criteria indicate gifted ability.” A person with an IQ lower than 130 may be gifted when other educational criteria in the child’s profile as indicated through a gifted rubric.
