Curriculum
Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is a standards-based sequence of planned experiences that allow students to practice and achieve proficiency in content and applied-learning skills. Curriculum is the central guide for all teachers. It outlines what is essential for teaching and learning so that we can ensure all students in the DASD have access to rigorous academic experiences.
The curriculum overview documents that are found on the DASD website break down each course into units of study. Within each unit the documents outline the standards that are taught, the key materials used, the assessments used, and the amount of time spent on a particular unit of study.
From these overview documents department leads create detailed unit plans to help guide all educators who are teaching a particular course or grade level. Then each individual teacher creates daily lesson plans, based upon those unit plans, to meet the unique learning needs of the students in their classroom.
